Ultrasound Therapy

Hands-on care, paired with a bigger plan.

Therapeutic ultrasound is a treatment modality that is applied using the head of an ultrasound probe that is placed in direct contact with your skin via a transmission coupling gel.

We commonly use the US machine for acute injuries and chronic injuries that flare up and present acutely (with inflammation). It is used amongst other interventions for the patient’s rehabilitation as it increases the healing rate by causing tissue relaxation, tissue heating, local blood flow and scar tissue breakdown.

Some common injuries that could benefit from the use of this machine include lateral ankle sprains, plantar fasciitis, achilles tendinitis, muscle tears, patella tendinitis, trochanteric bursitis, tennis/golfer’s elbow, rotator cuff tendinitis, De Quervain’s syndrome, bicep tendinitis and ligament tears.

The use of this machine can assist with the speed of the acute phase of the injury to allow an exercise program to start and getting you back to full function as soon as possible.
