Pilates & exercise class for pre-season soccer

Are you looking forward to an injury-free season? Want to do what pro-athletes are doing a lot of? You’ve come to the right place.

Soccer is fun, but it’s a very physically-demanding sport. You have to make sure that your body is ready for the season so you can avoid injuries and play at your best. If you’re unsure of what to do in pre-season, the pilates and exercise class would walk you through a program to strengthen what needs strengthening. Or at times, if flexibility is what you need, we got you!

Many soccer injuries include ankle sprains, knee pains, and hamstring strains. So, there are specific programs designed just for you, depending on your goals, injuries and position on the field. Our 50-minute exercise class will be individualised and tailored to your level. We will have an assessment session first to determine what you want to achieve out of the classes, and to understand your past / current injuries.

To give you an example, I will briefly outline what we would do if hamstring tear / strain is one of your biggest worries. Hamstring injuries do not just happen because your hamstring is tight. Yes, it could be one of the reasons, but unfortunately, it is not that simple! Core and glutes weaknesses, along with hip flexor tightness can all contribute to increased risk of hamstring injuries (I will be explaining it more in-depth on the video, be sure to check it out). So, during the class, the focus would be on these areas to allow for maximum output of performance in all the games you’re playing in.

For best results, most of the early stages of the class will involve isolating the muscles first, before combining them to perform more complicated movements. More functional and applicable exercises will be performed when your muscles are strong and flexible enough. Functional exercises in which you will be tested on can include; hopping, pivoting, sprinting, and kicking. Karina, our class instructor, will outline the exercise program for you at the beginning so you will have a clear picture of your journey.
